Trump favored to be Time’s Person of the Year

Donald Trump is the odds-on favorite to be named Time magazine’s Person of the Year, according to British bookmaker Ladbrokes. Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has a 1/2 chance of winning the award, followed by British Prime Minister Theresa May at 5/2 and Russian President Vladimir Putin at 6/1.

The Person of the Year is chosen by Time’s editors as the person who has had the greatest impact on the news, for good or ill, during the past year. Trump has dominated the news in 2016 with his controversial campaign rhetoric and his rise to the top of the Republican field.

If Trump is named Person of the Year, he would be the fourth U.S. presidential candidate to win the award, following Richard Nixon in 1968, Jimmy Carter in 1976, and Ronald Reagan in 1980.
