Trump Wants to Let Your Boss Take Away Your Birth Control

According to The New York Times, on October 6th, 2017, the Trump administration proposed a new rule that would allow employers, regardless of religious views, to deny their employees birth control coverage. The measure seeks to broaden the authority of employers to define what health services they are able to waive on grounds of religious beliefs. Currently, only employers with religious objections can opt out of providing contraception coverage. The new rule would broaden this religious exemption to any employer, a development The New York Times states could lead to a significant drop in the number of individuals with employer-provided health insurance plans that include no-cost birth control.
