After Kamala Harris’ loss in the Democratic presidential primaries, black female political organizers are considering their next moves. Some believe that Harris’ defeat is a sign that the Democratic Party is not ready to nominate a black woman for president, while others believe that Harris’ loss does not necessarily reflect the party’s overall commitment to diversity and inclusion. Organizers are also discussing how to increase the number of black women in elected office and how to build a more inclusive political system.

Transcript: Liz Cheney Says Women Will “Save the Day in This Election”
Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney predicted “a sea change in the way women are involved in politics” during a Thursday night speech, saying that women will “save the day” in this fall’s midterm elections.
Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, was delivering the Barbara Walters Courage in Journalism award to legendary ABC News anchor Juju Chang at an event hosted by the International Women’s Media Foundation at the historic Pierre Hotel in New York City.
Cheney said “a pin has been dropped by women all over this country” after the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
